Two years without an update. I don't know what happened. Oh, I got engaged, got married, bought a house and now am pregnant with a second little Murphy.
I've decided I want to keep up my block and post life updates for friends and family. So here is my first....some pictures of my little man over the last year.

Yes...I know. It's way past November. But my computer was down and out for so long I didn't get to post my cute pictures.
Shawn's grandparents were visiting from Montana and it was the first time they got to meet Elijah. So it was really special. We split the day between my family and Shawn's (tough thing to master). I was so busy by the time we made it to my house I didn't take any pictures. But here are some from Shawn's mom's and one from the morning after Thanksgiving.

One year ago, today!

This time last year I was in the very painful and amazing process of giving birth to my son, Elijah. The past few days have been so emotional for me. When I look at him I still see that 6 lb 14 oz bundle of love that I met for the first time on this day, a year ago. He is getting to be such a big and independent little man. I love waking up to him and seeing the new things that he learns each day. Some of the things he does I wonder where he ever learned them. He never stops making me laugh or feel loved. When I am down he is right there to cuddle me or give me kisses.

I am so overwhelmed with gratefulness that God would entrust this precious and priceless life to me. I am humbled that I am the one He chose to bless with Elijah's presence.

So, on this day, January 15th, I want to say Happy 1st Birthday to my little monkey, Elijah. You have brought more joy and meaning to my life than you will ever know. I can't imagine my life without your giggles. And even though you still wake up every night, I wouldn't trade our quiet times together for a million sleep filled nights. I look forward to being a mommy that teaches you right from wrong. That teaches you to love Jesus and love others. To stand up for what is morally right and your convictions. To be a friend to those who others have rejected. To change the world and not apologize for it. To be a man who respects women and be an involved father. These are all the dreams I wish for you, my little one. You have many years to fulfill them...but I don't think it's ever too early to dream of your destiny.

Mama loves you peanut. Thank you for changing my life, a year ago, today.

P.S. you were worth every single painful contraction (that I threw up every single time with) back and front labor, 2 1/2 hours of pushing, and 36 hours of labor.

Last month my sister, my mother, and I made a day and went to House of Fashion in Sacramento. I was ready, and excited, to find my wedding dress!
Of course, I had a budget to stay with. I love Reeme Acra, Eve of Milady, Kenneth Poole, Simone Carvalli and Priscilla of Boston . Those designers are NOT cheap. Deep down, I knew what I was in for.
I decided to go straight to the Eve of Milady...and there,waiting on the rack, was the most beautiful dress. As soon as I saw the bodice work...I knew I HAD to try it on.
However, a little birdie, or maybe a huge lion, kept telling me NOT to try it on because it was out of my budget. But I told that birdie/lion to hush because their dress was over their budget and no matter what, I was trying on that dress.
I tried on a few other dresses I had picked out but, secretly, I couldn't wait to try on my dress. It looked exactly how I had always pictured my dress.
As soon as I tried it on and looked into the mirror, I knew. It was my fairy tale, once-in-a-lifetime dress.
Sure, it was over my budget. But to me, it didn't matter. I had found my dress! Everythine about it is what I have always wanted. It's perfect. I don't want to say anything about the details because Shawn reads this....but....I had to give detail about the first time me and my gorgeous dress met! Hahaha. Cheesy, I know!

the holiday season...

It's time for hot tea by the fire, a good book and a warm blanket on the couch, holiday baking, traditions from when I was little and taking time to be with the ones you love.

I can't wait for Elijah to experience his first thanksgiving and Christmas. I have waited for this time since he was born. I am so excited to start new traditions with my family and carry on some old ones. Silent night on Christmas eve, yeah, I am stealing that one.

My family has been all about spending time together and making memories that will last forever. Tradition. And I am so happy my family has left us traditions and holidays that will always be in our hearts.

This is the time when I stop and look at the world around me and am so thankful for my life. I have a wonderful life and have been blessed with so much love and an amazing family. I am thankful for this season in my life.

It wouldn't let me post Elijah's cute new video! So...no update on his cute little habits now a days.

Okay...so I totally feel cheeeesey when I tell people that I want to see. "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2". I mean, come on, doesn't that name just make you want to start busting up laughing? Well, everytime I try to tell someone I want to see that movie I can not, for the life of me, keep a straight face.

Today my mother, sister, grandma and myself went to go see it. I have to say, with guilty pleasure, I loved it. Alexis Bledel is my favorite actress ever. And not because of Gilmore Girls. Okee, I lied it is because she was so amazing in that tv show.

Anyways, it has been amazing having my sister here so much! 3 times in the last month and a half. How did I get so lucky?

Ohhhh, and we are going to see Carrie Underwood AND So you think you can dance in WA next month for a late bday celebration! Waaaaaaaaa hooooo!!

Grandma,

The past few months have been a whirl wind of trips to the hospital. It was hard to see you suffer but it gave me peace knowing that you were ready to go and be with Jesus. Nothing would have made you happier. No more suffering or waiting, no more fighting your old body to work another day.
You have been an ever present and sweet Grandma, a grandma of faith. I am so blessed that Elijah got to meet you. He was the apple of your eye and the highlight of your days. Thanks for loving me and loving him.

I am happy you are in a better place with a new body and your Jesus by your side. You will be remembered and loved forever Grandma.

First time in my highchair and ready for my food...where is it? Waiting for my first bite of real food...well, baby food!

Shawn and I gave Elijah his first taste of baby food on Father's day. Peas! Well, it was more like not even a half spoon full. But it was fun to see his reaction. The rice cereal he liked but the green beans are his favorite so far...next comes the yellow and orange veggies and then fruits! Of course we waited 3 days between each new food to look for reactions and he is doing great so far. He is getting to be such a big boy and is really showing us his personality (not that it was ever lacking from day one).

Thankful on Father's Day

Happy Father's Day, to two of the most amazing fathers I have ever known. I love and cherish you both.

Daddy,
If God were to take the love of all of the fathers ever created and put that love into one heart, it would be your heart. You have such a huge father's heart and I am so blessed, everyday, to be able to call you my father. Not only have you been an everpresent figure in my life but you have been a father figure to those you aren't as blessed as I am, to those that don't have a loving and stable father in their lives.
I have more memories than I could ever count of days spent "on the job" with you, or when you would pick me up for our special dates together, or the time that you bought me a corsage for prom and you made sure it matched my dress perfectly. I remember early mornings waking up to a big hug and a prayer before I was on my way for the day. And sometimes, I remember waking up to you sitting on the edge of my bed praying a blessing over your last born child. Even though not all of our memories are great ones, I do remember you fighting for me and praying for me and even when I thought I knew it all and you couldn't tell me otherwise...you quietly and faithfully prayed and trusted God....and through it all you were still there to listen to me in my time of hurting and pray for me.
Today, I want to honor you for the father you are and the father that you have been. I want to display my gratefulness and admiration for you. Thank you for being faithful to Mom for 33 years and being a living example of a committed husband and father. Thank you for being my Daddy, for being you.

This last year of our lives has been the most intense year throughout our 3 and 1/2 year relationship. We have grown closer to eachother, our families, and to God.
You have been by my side through the fun times that we have had laughing together and goofing off and through the times of sadness and heartache, but most of all....the time of SUPRISES. From day one, you have been active in Elijah's life and excited to become a father. You went to every doctor's apointment with me and took care of me when I didn't feel well. I have to admit I used the "pregnant" card quite a bit, but you didn't care, you were happy to fun around all over town for my latest craving. You labored with me throughout the night and made sure that every single detail was just the way I had wanted it. And when our son arrived...you were there to rejoice with me.
When I got up with Elijah throughout the night, you did too. If I needed a break or some sleep, you were there. It's been a life changing experience seeing our son get bigger and bigger and to see you active in your role as a father and from the beginning you have blown me away at your commuitment, patience, and excitedness. Thank you for being my best friend and Elijah's daddy. Thank you for being faithful to me and a support system. I love you.

Last Saturday it was about 102 degrees here in California so Shawn and I decided that we were going to take Elijah over to Grandpa and Grandma Fox's for his first swim of the summer.

He absolutely loved it! He floated for about 45 minutes without saying a word, just relaxing and having a good ol' time! He was so relaxed....he feel asleep! Ha!

3 1/2 months and learning new tricks

Last night Shawn and I were playing with Elijah on the floor and I put him on his tummy and he was loving it (rare). He was laying his head on the floor and just relaxing and then all of the sudden...he rolled over onto his back! I screamed and then I cried. Haha. And Elijah just looked at us like..."What? What did I do!?"

We had to make sure it wasn't a one time thing so back he went on his tummy and he flipped onto his back right away! And I tried it this morning and he did it again! We have a flipper! Yay!

Well, not really, but it sure does feel greating having 85 degree weather here! Elijah got his first sunburn! I know...I feel like a horrible mother! They say not to put sun screen on babies under 6 months because their skin is so thin and absorbs the chemicals in the sunscreen. SO....I just kept him outta the sun...or so I thought. But he was a trooper and LOVED it when I rubbed the aloe on him.

Shawn has been working long long hours so it is a little hard adjusting to being alone with Elijah for such a long period of time...but I treasure the moments I have with him.

Elijah is grabbing everything now and putting it in his mouth and he smiles so big! He is close to giggling and turning himself over...but not quite yet. I think I will cry when he does turn over.

It has been so warm here I haven't been able to put him in my favorite outfit of his. I put him in it in Washington and 20 minutes later he pooped through it. So one day was pretty cold and windy so I got to dress him in it....and here is my lil copilot!

Here we are in beautiful Wa. Just kidding....no I am serious about the Washington part...but not about the beautiful part. It is rather cold...but that is okay. My parents, Elijah, Shawn and I all flew up to spend some time with my sister and her husband. We don't get to see Auntie Alie much.

All I have to say is my son did AMAZING on the flight. He slept the whole time and the short time he was awake he was content in mommy's arms. I am blessed to have such a great first child.

Shawn had to return back to California tonight because of work and right after he left it started pooring down all this beautiful snow! It is a little winter wonderland here!

I am posting some pictures of the shower that my sister threw for me up here. And lots of pictures of Elijah.

Oh, and I chopped my hair off! Thank God! I felt like such a gross mom that never gets her hair done...and I love it and feel so refreshed! I wish Cara didn't live so far away! Boo..

It is hard to believe that my little man is two months old today! He has grown soooo much! We had his two month check up and he weighed 10 lbs and 5 ounces! He is a big boy now! He also got his shots....that was very hard for mommy, but he was so good and stopped crying as soon as I gave him his binkie.

Bills, Bills, and more Bills

Wow, Dr.'s are really good about sending out bills! I have bill after bill from the Hospital and from my Dr. and Elijah's Dr. It's a little over whelming!

Although, I have to say that I am SUPER blessed to be in the situation that I am in. My work's insurance pays for 80% of all my bills and the 20% that is left over is actually cut down to 10% that I have to pay because I am a hospital employee. God watches out for his children....he really does.

Even though Elijah was a suprise little bundle God was watching out for us and making sure that we would be able to pay off these expenses. He never gives us more than we can handle....and sometimes....he puts us in situations to prove to us that we can handle a lot more than we think we are capable of!

Just random thoughts......

I am so excited for tomorrow night. Even though we have entered the "parents" stage of our lives and it feels like there is never going to be any time for romance or a kiss or a cuddle with each other, we are making some alone time for ourselves.

For Valentine's Day we are going to the Super 90's Love Jam....Kc and Jo Jo baby! I think this will be a great night and a perfect way to celebrate our 3 years together. Hopefully we won't be worried about Elijah too much!

Elijah has arrived!

He is here! After 48 hrs of contractions and then contractions that were less than a minute appart, with back labor, and throwing up with every contractions...our little miracle arrived!
He was born on January 15 at 10:29 a.m. He weighed 6 lbs and 14 ounces and was 20 and 1/4 inches! I have barely had time to shower or eat or anything. But he is a blessing.

Today was my official due date. And Elijah was inside my tummy the whole time laughing at us. Guess he isn't too into "schedules".
Maybe I should drink that raspberry tea and go on a really long walk tomorrow! I want him to come out! Hopefully I won't go too over my due date! *crosses fingers*

We watched a c-section video tonight at Lamaze.....yup...I officially don't want THAT to happen to me....ever!

Elijah's Nursery

Well, here it is! Elijah's nursery! There are still some things that need to finished....but it's coming together and looking so cute!

This is the chair that Shawn and I recieved as a great gift from our parents. It is so comfortable and totally gives the baby's room a cozy and warm feeling. The blanket was a gift from Auntie Alie and Uncle Steve....it's real soft.

I purchased the curtains and the baseball rods from Pottery Barn Kids and they totally add to the fun little kids baseball feel.

Elijah's letter arrived on Christmas Eve.....I found this great lady on Ebay who can design them anyway that you want. I love them and they totally make it feel like the room is waiting for his arrival.

39 weeks and counting!

Today is my first official day of week 39. I'm so excited!
I'll try and catch up on what has happened these last two months!
I finished school 5 days before Christmas! It was a stressful time because I was starting to get extremely tired and studying for all of my tests and the final was killing me. But I did it! And I am totally finished with school. That is so amazing to say.
At work my boss switched me over from a Nurses Assistant to Monitor Tech/Ward Clerk. Which was so amazing because standing on my feet for 12 hours a day was really getting to my back. So basically I was processing all of the doctor's orders and admitts and surgery stuff.
My last day of work was December the 29th. I was so excited to be off and able to prepair and catch up on sleep. I came home to find My parents and Shawn and his parent's here and they all suprised me with my chair for Elijah's room. It totally give the nursery a cozy feel and I can't wait to put up his letter's that I had made for him.
And then......I got inredibly sick. Not fun! I think I had food poisoning. So basically on the 30th I was out all night and throwing up and it wasn't fun and I am still recovering from it.
Elijah still isn't ready to come into this world yet. And I am totally okay with that because had he decided that he was ready I would have had no energy to push that lil man out.
Shawn and I are going to have pictures taken tommorrow and finish packing our hospital bags. This is such a crazy time...it's so close and exciting.
Shawn has been amazing. He took care of me the whole time I was sick and stayed in with me on New Years Eve. And didn't complain that I passed out on him two mintues after it was 2008. Ha. He got me a dozen red roses and the magazine with Christina Aguilera's pregnancy photo's that I have been wanting. He has been so sweet and attentive. I'm blessed.
Well..it's a scattered update but my brain is in a million places right now! I will post some pics from christmas and the baby's room tonight! Hope all is well with everyone!!

Here are some pictures from the ladies baby shower that my mother and sister threw for me on November the 3rd. It was absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I had wanted, down to every last detail.

Alison was a trooper dealing with her very opinionated and nesting pregnant sister. She ran all over town trying to find me my green roses and generously paid for them at a florist price...ouch. She did the big floral arrangments with the lime slices in the vase, exactly what I had asked for. Thank you so much sister for all of your hard work.

Mom was so wonderful. She asked what I had invisioned for my baby shower and she matched exactly what I had dreamed up in my head. She found some really cute stickers but didn't know what to do with them. I thought they matched perfect with the theme so I wanted to get floral wire and have them coming out of the floral center pieces. It looked just like a nursery mobile.

But the person who really really helped was Becky Miller. She gave mom her decorative boxes, material, vases, and glasses. Not only that but she went, without being asked, to Michaels and picked out the paper pieces to go around the vases. She was so gracious and sweet and I cannot thank her enough.

Everything about my baby shower was lovely. My cake form Cake's by Nancy turned out perfect. And Alie and Mom even got me the personalized m&ms. Wow....Elijah and I are more than loved. Enjoy!

Week 33 Tuesday 11/20

For all the weight and bulk you’re lugging around these days, you’d think your little champ should weigh much more than a mere 5 lbs and measly 17 inches in height, but nope, that’s about the average size for a baby in its thirty-third week. In terms of appearances, they’re getting cuter and pudgier every minute as they pile on the baby fat for those adorable little wrist rolls and chubby toes. And as we’re sure you’ve already noticed they’re getting stronger with every passing day. Nowadays, it’s possible to observe a well-placed kick just by watching your belly—but you already knew that didn’t you? Although they’re getting stronger, your bigger-by-the-day baby is losing space to move around, so the actual rate of movement will drop off in the last few weeks, despite that powerful drop-kick they’ve been working on. Hey, did you know you’ll continue feeling their movements even during labor?

Shawn and I had a nice day together. We haven't had much "us" time lately so it was nice to be with him. Elijah gave us some entertainment with his movements. I think he is going to be a long one. His heels are constantly at my sides and poking out. It is so funny to feel his heel and then he will pull away.

As I type he has the hyccups. Precious.

Oh, we got a rug for the nursery so it is a little more warm now. I'll have to take some pictures and post them. Not too much longer and he will be here. Such a happy thought.

Week 32: Mommy, you're HOT!

In the latest womb reports, your amazing baby has now developed sensitivity to temperature! This means you’ll probably get a swift kick if you put a hot pad on your ginormous belly. For the Elton John lovers out there-- yes, baby’s got blue eyes. At this point, all babies do, although depending on their chromosomal disposition, this could easily change after birth (or even between now and labor), but for the time being, blue it is. Thanks to their recently matured lungs and a remarkably strong immune system, over 90% of babies born in their 32nd week, survive premature births. So it’s pretty much a done deal. Even if your little monkey’s planning on heading out early, their survival odds are in everyone’s favor. Time to celebrate (no, no, wait until after the birth to crack open the champagne!) We’re talking baby-showers and alcohol-free punch!

It is such a crazy thought that I am ending my 32 week about to start my 33rd. Wow. My lil man will be here soon!

Alrighty! It is official. I have now entered that incredibly uncofortable stage. You know, the stage where Elijah is stretching, and poking, and elbowing all over me. I love feeling him move...but sometimes the lil guy gets into these really weird positions and to be quite honest it feels like he has crushed my organs like playdo in his hands! Or something of that sorts.

We had our appointment with Dr. Madalenna today. He is so nice. He updated us on our ultrasound. Everything with baby Elijah's organs and extremities are completely normal and according to my growth he says that January 8th is right on schedule for my due date. I, however, believe that Elijah will be here earlier.

Hopefully we can get his room all done and his exploding closet organized. I need to stop this need to nest. For reals now.

I am so excited for the next few months to come.....this whole experience has been such a great blessing.

I love good finds. So this morning I was sitting reading the Sunday paper, as usual. I love all the ads and looking at what is on sale and such.
So I looked at the Big Lots ad because that store is actually great and they had Graco highchairs for sale. $60 too. So I decided to check it out and see if they had out Graco Oakwood highchair that is disconntinued and I can't find it anywhere.
We walked back and waiting on the shelf for us was our Oakwood highchair! Shawn and I were totally stoked! Actually, I was way more stoked than him but none the less....it was rad!
I love when stuff like that happens to me....

Target is the DEVIL!

Target is by far the worste store in the whole entire world! I wish I never would have registered there! Grrr!

So..we got a lot of great stuff at our couple's baby shower a few weeks ago. However, some people didn't understand that after you find something on our registry you are supposed to have the cashier scan the paper so on the registry it is marked off as fulfilled and we don't get duplicates. Well...we got lots of duplicates...lucky more than half gave gift reciepts so those exchanges weren't a problem.

However...we got a really nice moniter that we didn't register for (including the one we did register for) and a bunch of other stuff that we didn't register for...with out a reciept. We tried to go to target and put it all on a gift card for any items that will be left over on our registry....target does not take any exchanges/store returns OVER $20...and if you have used your i.d. to do a return for an item without a reciept or an exchange without a reciept more than twice...you are outta luck.

I HATE TARGET! ha. The angry pregnant lady is really comming out in me. So...needless to say...don't ever register at Target...or if you do...pray that everyone gives you a gift reciept weather it's from your registry or not.

p.s. I can't believe I just wrote a whole blog about Target!

4d ultrasound...

Shawn and I made an appointment on the 30th of October (Tuesday) for our 3d/4d ultrasound! I am sooo excited for this! I can't wait to see Elijah's face with all of that amazing detail! It has me really really excited!

Another thing that has me excited is...boston is going to the world series! love it!

Due Date Mix-up

So...Shawn and I have been a little misinformed about our due date. We are due January 8th according to our very first ultrasound! Just found that out today at our check-up!

Not only that...but according to the due date from our last ultrasound my due date is January 5th! But we stick to the doctors original due date! January 8th!

Shawn and I went to my glucose test today and after fasting all morning and drinking 50 g of sugar...it was only 106. Which is basically what it should be normally.....no gestational diabetes! Fun fun......it's getting so close!

Excited...

A little over a week and then....MY SISSY COMES TO CALIFORNIA! I am so stoked! This whole living two states away thing just is not my favorite. I have grown so much since Hawaii. Gained a little too much weight in my butt and thighs! Ha! My pants are starting to fit rather uncomfy like. I think when she sees my tummy she will cry! Just a prediction!

Countdown til Alie gets here has officially begun.

Oh, we got our crib bedding in the mail!So excited to start setting it all up! Shawn is going to paint the crib this weekend and then we will get to work making Elijah's room just right!

i've gained 10 lbs since my last weigh-in. 15lbs total. Now that is love right there....

here i am at 22 weeks....which was last week cause i am now 23 weeks. so soon!

Elijah Zion Murphy, first appearance!

Here are the actual ultrasound pictures.....Elijah makes his first appearance. He was being quite a show off. Only a few more months and I can hold him in my arms. And dress him in all of his adorable outfitts. Fun!

It's a boy!! Hoooooray! All I can say is it was the most amazing thing to see my lil man running all over. He kicked at the tech because he didn't like her invading his lil space. It was so life altering to see his little bones all formed and his pretty lips opening and closing. The best part was watching him move his little hand up to his face and try to suck his thumb. God is amazing! And, well, let's just say that he likes so show off what he has. Ha. Spread eagle...waiting to show mommy that he is indeed a lil boy!
Elijah Zion Murphy will be here soon....I can't wait to meet him. Oh, and of course Shawn is exstatic to have a lil buddy.

Here Today Gone To Maui

Well, I have to say that spending your 21st birthday in Hawaii was a-maz-ing! I loved every minute of it! Baby really started moving a lot on the plane ride over and as the days went by I felt the kicking stronger and stronger. I can now say that baby HATES it when I lay on my tummy.

Shawn felt baby kick for the first time in Hawaii. Alie and Mom also got in on the action. Strong lil sucker.

For my birthday we went snorkling...yeah, almost did make it back to land, parasailed, and saw so many dolphins!! It made my birthday! Well, having Shawn there really made it, the dolphins were just a plus. It wasn't too disappointing coming home because the next day we knew we would find out if we were having a boy or a girl. Fun!
